Nevada Chemicals, Inc. Announces Sale of Assets in West Africa
Chemicals, Ltd.
SALT LAKE CITY: UTAH - John T. Day, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Nevada Chemicals, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:NCEM), today announced
that Nevada Chemicals, Inc. (NCI) has sold its assets in West Africa
Chemicals, Ltd. West Africa Chemicals (WAC) owned assets and was
involved in the manufacture and sale of explosives to the mines
in the country of Ghana. NCI and its 50/50 joint venture partner
Chemical Holdings International, Ltd (CHI) of Mauritius sold the
assets to a consortium which will continue to pursue sales and service
to the mining community in Ghana.
Since NCI has previously written off its investment in WAC in prior
years, the net proceeds from the sale will be recorded as a gain
and included in the results of operations for the current quarter.
Such gain should provide the company with about $0.04 per share
of net income.
With the sale of the Ghana assets, NCI will no longer be active
in manufacturing or selling commercial explosives. John T. Day said,
"This sale has been anticipated for some time and we are happy
with the outcome. It will now allow us to focus on our core business
interests."
NCI, through its 50% stake in Cyanco, a chemical producer of sodium
cyanide located in Winnemucca, Nevada, is the premier producer of
strategic chemicals for the gold mining industry of the United States.
